Premium Cloud Engineering Tool

Load Flow Software: Pakistan's First VPS Based Load Flow Analyzer in the Cloud

The Load Flow Analyzer is Chief Consultant Pakistan's own VPS based load flow tool, the first of its kind built and hosted in Pakistan for Pakistan's distribution network. Rather than installing desktop load flow software on a single engineer's machine, this tool runs entirely in the cloud on a dedicated virtual private server, so any authorized consultant can log in from anywhere and run a full load flow study directly from a browser. Behind the interface sits a Pandapower based load flow engine, an open source power system analysis library, which we have customized specifically to read Synergi Electric feeder data and produce accurate voltage, loading, and loss results for 11kV and other medium voltage distribution feeders across every DISCO in Pakistan.

Pakistan's First VPS Based Load Flow Tool

Most load flow analysis in Pakistan is still done through desktop software installed on a single computer, tied to one license and one machine. The Load Flow Analyzer changes that by moving the entire simulation environment onto a dedicated VPS, accessible over the internet the same way you would access any cloud application. This means no installation, no version conflicts between colleagues, and no dependency on a specific office computer to run a study.

Any credentialed engineer can open the tool from a laptop, a site office, or while travelling, and run the same load flow engine every time. As far as we are aware, this is the first tool of its kind built specifically around Pakistan's DISCO data formats and hosted on infrastructure we control end to end, rather than a generic international platform adapted after the fact. It is a service capability we do not believe any other consultancy firm in Pakistan currently offers.

How the Pandapower Engine Turns Your .MDB File Into a Load Flow Model

At the core of the tool is Pandapower, a widely used open source Python library for power system modelling and load flow analysis. Pandapower represents a network as a structured object containing every bus, line, transformer, load, and generator in the system, along with their electrical parameters, and this object is commonly saved as a .p file using Python's pickle format.

Our engine reads your feeder data directly from a Synergi Electric .mdb file, the same Microsoft Access database format used across GEPCO, LESCO, IESCO, FESCO, MEPCO, and other DISCOs for feeder modelling. Rather than asking you to manually rebuild the network inside a separate tool, we parse the nodes, conductors, and connectivity already stored in your .mdb file and automatically construct the equivalent Pandapower network object, saving it as a .p file behind the scenes.

Once that network object exists, the engine runs a standard Newton Raphson load flow solution across the entire feeder, solving for bus voltages, line currents, and power flows in seconds. Because the underlying model is a genuine Pandapower object rather than a simplified approximation, the results carry the same accuracy and flexibility you would expect from running Pandapower locally in Python, just without needing to write a single line of code or manage a Python environment yourself.

What You Can Analyze With This Tool

Once your .mdb file is processed, the Load Flow Analyzer gives you a complete picture of how your feeder is actually performing under load. You can review voltage profiles at every node to identify where voltage is dropping below acceptable limits, check line and transformer loading to spot segments running close to or beyond their rated capacity, and quantify total system losses across the feeder in both technical and financial terms.

This makes the tool directly useful for the kind of work consultants and DISCO planning engineers do every day: validating a feeder before approving a new solar net metering connection, checking hosting capacity for a proposed BESS or EVCS installation, or simply confirming that an existing feeder is operating within safe limits before recommending an upgrade. Because the analysis covers any DISCO's .mdb export, from GEPCO to QESCO, the same tool works regardless of which distribution company your project falls under.

Why Cloud Based Load Flow Matters for Consultants

Running load flow studies in the cloud rather than on a single desktop has practical advantages beyond convenience. A VPS based tool can be scaled to handle larger, more complex feeders without being limited by the processing power of one office computer. Results and uploaded files remain tied to your credentialed account rather than a specific machine, so switching laptops or working from a different office does not interrupt your work.

It also means updates to the underlying Pandapower engine, bug fixes, or new analysis features can be rolled out instantly to every user, rather than requiring each engineer to reinstall software individually. For a consultancy managing multiple ongoing projects across different DISCOs at once, this shift from desktop software to a genuine cloud service is a meaningful operational advantage.

Credentialed Access for Verified Engineers

Because the Load Flow Analyzer processes real distribution network data and represents a significant engineering investment, access is restricted to authorized consultants and engineers rather than open to the public. If you need a passcode to use the tool, reach out to our HR team directly by email, or use the contact form below, and we will verify your credentials and set up access.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the .p object generated by this tool?

A .p file is a serialized Pandapower network object, essentially a saved snapshot of your entire feeder model, including every bus, line, and transformer, in a format Python's Pandapower library can load and analyze directly.

Do I need to know Python or Pandapower to use this tool?

No. The tool handles the entire process behind the scenes, from reading your .mdb file to generating the .p object and running the load flow, through a simple browser interface.

Which DISCOs does this tool support?

Any DISCO whose feeder data is modelled in Synergi Electric and exported as a .mdb file, including GEPCO, LESCO, IESCO, FESCO, MEPCO, PESCO, HESCO, QESCO, SEPCO, and TESCO.

How do I get access to the tool?

Access is credentialed. Email our HR team at hr@chiefconsultantpak.com or use the contact us page, and we will verify your details and issue login access.
